Put In - Located on Rock Ridge School Road off Highway 581 on State Road 1142. (Wilkerson Crossroads). Approximately 10 miles from downtown Wilson. No launch fees are required on non-motorized boats. That was a surprise as the webpage said 10 dollars.
Distance/Time - 10.2 miles/4 3/4 hours
Difficulty - Average, low water areas to deal with.
Trip Directions - I headed west on the north side of the lake with the sun at my back making a counterclockwise loop around the lake. Water is down, but not to bad. Found an access road with various trails, decided not to hike as hunting season is in full force. Heard no gun fire, but why take a chance. Have a new camera(Nikon P5100) and spend time trying the different settings. The camera is actually disappointing, so I am trying to find a happy medium with it. Just to many settings as I was used to just a point and shoot before.
Scenery - Fall colors are finally peaking and it was a beautiful day with light wind. Many birds and wildlife. Only a few fishermen on the water also.
Hazards - Low water areas.
