Cape Fear River - Highway 42 Trip
Put In - Located where Highway 42(Advent Ferry Road) crosses the Cape Fear River. This is a Wildlife Access area and has a nice parking lot and one small boat ramp.
Distance/Time - 6.7 miles/2 3/4 hours
Difficulty - Average, windy, river setting not many places to take out and rest.
Trip Directions - Headed upstream towards McKay Island. Went left of the island and then up Lick Creek till I was stopped by downed trees. Came back down Lick Creek headed up to the top of the island to come back on the other side. Also, took a side trip of one of the old canals used by the power company.
Scenery - Saw a beautiful Eagle, turtles, muskrat, and jumping fish. No herons/egrets this on this part of the river.
Hazards - Motor boats and debris.
