Trip
Directions - Head northeast away from the Six Forks bridge to Blue Jay Point.
-
Scenery -
Bordering Blue Jay Point Park, various places to stop and walk the trails.
The best is Blue Jay Point itself and walk up to the main shelter.
Bathroom is available here. You can then head over the Yorkshire Center,
a park meeting facility. An old road down to the water gives you access.
Going the other direction under the bridge you come upon a nice island to stop
and eat. Lots of fisherman use the island, as there is a nice lawn chair
here. After leaving the island you an travel a fair distance up the
stream feeding the lake until you come upon a downed tree. Bow and arrow
hunting is allowed back in this Wildlife Area.
-
Hazards -
Downed and low trees up the creek and low water.
-
Note -
This was a special trip to let Carter try out kayaking with his Dad.
Met at Blue Jay Point and let him paddle around a bit.
