Falls Lake - Forest Ridge Park Trip
Put In - Located left of the dam spillway, down by the picnic area. A nice trail from the parking area leads down to the water Access is off of Falls of Neuse Road, parking is just before the dam overpass. Gates are only open 8am-5:30pm daily, Monday thru Friday only (4:30pm closing during the winter months).

Trip Directions - The weather was nice and warm so I decided to head back to the dam area and visit the new park, Forest Ridge Park, that is to be started next year. There are big plans for this area in terms of things to do for everyone. Here is the park plan in pdf form. I basically paddled a large circle to the park and back. Did a lot of hiking on the two roads that exist in the park land. I found the old chimney but missed the Poole Cemetery that is close by based on the park historical findings.
Scenery - Birds as usual and an egret or two. Saw one turtle sunning him/herself. It was just a nice peaceful day.
Hazards - None.
