Falls Lake - Highway 98 Fishing Access II
Put In - Located on 98 between Six Forks and Stoney Hill Road at the bridge that crosses Falls Lake. Very nice parking area on the right heading east towards Wake Forest. About a 100 yard portage down to the water on an old asphalt road. Fishing is popular here.
Distance/Time - 6.1 miles/3 hours
Difficulty - Easy
Trip Directions - Head north from put in, under the bridge and then bear right up the channel. Had lunch at the BW Wells boat ramp and then hiked the trails at the park. Old memories here from Cub Scout days and Family campouts.
Scenery - I found two access roads that turned into homes around the lake. A heron followed me around the loop. Lake level was about 3 feet above normal. The dam area was running full bore, with many whitewater kayakers out.
Hazards - None.
