Put In - Located in Holly Point State Park on New Light Road. Take Six Forks to 98 and cross 98 which becomes New Light Road. Stay on New Light Road until you see the park on the right. Shinleaf park you will pass on the way on the right. I camped in site 126, which is right on the water. Site was camped by another family the next day, they ask to put up their tent while I was eating breakfast. There is a left side loop also, both sides have a swimming area. Cost is 15 dollars for a non-electric/water site.

Trip Directions - Went west from campsite to New Light Bridge to watch the sunset. Stayed out till around 9:30pm, getting used to this night paddling. Big beaver passed and right in front of me, very eerie. After breakfast, headed east to the access road I found on the previous trip. Real nice hike from up to Shinleaf Park, a primitive camping park. Found an old cemetery and other remnants of life long ago. Water is way down, never seen it this low.
Scenery - lots of birds, eagles, people.
Hazards - Old bridge abutment near the New Light bridge.
