Put In - Located in Holly Point State Park on New Light Road. Take Six Forks to 98 and cross 98 which becomes New Light Road. Stay on New Light Road until you see the park on the right. Shinleaf park you will pass on the way on the right. I camped in site 129, which is right on the water. Cost is 15 dollars for a non-electric/water site.
Distance/Time - 5 Miles/3 hours, 3.8 Miles/2 hours, 5.4 Miles/3 hours
Difficulty - Easy/Average
Trip Directions - Made 3 trips, the afternoon was to BW Wells Homestead, discovered that Mr. Ray the caretaker of the property is now gone. They have completely removed all is personal stuff of many years. Had visited a year before and he was still living in the house. Did a night trip and ran into a few beavers and osprey tending their nests. The next morning made a run up New Light Creek to the access road that I had been on before from Purnell Road.
Scenery - Lots of osprey and beavers. Weather was really nice and the lake is full which makes it nice to paddle.
Hazards - Other than motor boats, none, water is at full pool.
