Falls Lake - Laurel Creek Trip
Put In - Located at the Highway 50 Boat Ramp on Creedmoor Road(Highway 50). The lake is 2+ feet over full pool(251.5).
Distance/Time - 10 miles/4.5 hours
Difficulty - Above Average because of the high wind.
Trip Directions - I headed towards RollingView Marina and then straight towards the end of Lick Creek. The high water let me get back pretty far, however, the best paddle was up Laurel Creek which is on the south side of the loop back. I forgot to turn on the track function on the GPS, so only have less than half of the trip. The wind was high heading out, but then died down on the way back and the sun was setting so it was a nice quiet paddle back. Beautiful day for the end of November. Saw two other kayakers and various power boaters. Noticed that a few families come out and just make an afternoon on their pontoon/house boat.
Scenery - Lots of ducks and egrets. Trees are all mostly down, was able to find two old homesteads off the two access roads. I also came upon a 'Duke Lacross' painting on a large rock. They spelled Lacrosse wrong, no houses are near by, so they had to hike in to do this.
Hazards - Wind/Motor boats
