Falls Lake - Lawrence Cemetery Trip
Put In - Located at the Highway 50 Boat Ramp on Creedmoor Road. Used a closed boat ramp today to get near the water, the water level is so low only one ramp is still useable.
Distance/Time - 7.7 miles/3.6 hours/2 MPH
Difficulty - Average
Trip Directions - Headed for the Highway 50 bridge and then stayed on the north side of the shoreline heading to Sandling Beach. I found a real nice access road that let me hike to Lawrence Cemetery. This is state park land so no hunting is allowed. Very interesting area to explore.
Scenery - As it was so warm, a lot of birds were out. Captured some pictures of a Bald Eagle pair, beautiful birds. The Lawrence cemetery was very interesting, the road to if off of Highway 50 is gated with the Lawrence name in wrought iron. This area is covered in trails, used by mountain bikers.
Hazards - Low water. I was in the middle of the lake on the way back to the Highway 50 bridge and hit something, the lake is at the lowest level ever recorded. Pray for some rain.
