Trip Directions - This was an night time paddle, to watch the Perseids meteor shower. My daughter was making her first trip with me kayaking. She promised once to go with me and since she was heading off to college in the next week, off we went. Decided to go north to view the Osprey nest and then south on the east bank to Sandling Beach. Took my backpacking stove and had some Jiffy Pop. The ranger at the park found us again at 9pm and made sure I was not trapped in the park, as the gates close at 9PM. We only saw two meteors, so it was not as active as I expected it.
Scenery - Slight break in the weather, but still very warm. The water is the warmest I have ever experienced. A lot of wildlife was out. The osprey nest was not active, but mom and dad were out and about hunting.
Hazards - Motor boats, that's about it.
