Trip Directions - This was a night time paddle, almost a full moon, the humidity was way down. Did the normal route north to the osprey nest and then back down on the east shoreline to Sandling beach. Stopped at the Boat Beach shelter as the lights were on and it made a nice place for Jiffy pop.
Scenery - The long standing osprey nest was gone. It had fallen out of the tree and was in the water below. Both mom and dad osprey were in the tree looking down. I was able to get really close to one who just kept looking down at the nest. I did not see any young, but sad to see this happen. But, there are many more new nests in the area, so they should be ok or they may re-build this one, but the tree does not look like it can handle a nest now. Beautiful night with much wildlife around. Looks like the rangers have put out Canadian goose/Turtle and Duck loafing and nesting structures. Never have seen these before, also small floating platforms are scattered around the area.
Hazards - It was very quiet for motor boats this night. I still was cautious on the way back in.
