Put In - Located at the Ledge Rock boat ramp. The put in is to the right of the boat ramps. Parking is in the area parking lot. Unload to the right of the boat ramps and then park up in the parking lot.
Distance/Time - 7.8 miles/3 1/2 hours
Difficulty - Average
Trip Directions - This was a night time paddle, 98% full moon, the humidity was way down. Did the normal route north to the osprey nests, 5 nests now, and then back down on the east shoreline to Sandling beach. Since the water level was 2.5 feet higher than full pool, I was able to paddle a nice distance back up a large cove that beavers have dammed.
Scenery - Lots of wildlife out and about. The osprey are all over the place, no young yet but on the way. Saw egrets, beaver, osprey, and ducks. Sandling beach was close because of bacteria. The beach area has not been maintained very well because of the budget cuts, grass growing on the beaches and sand erosion everywhere. Not sure anyone would want to swim or picnic in the area. I also ran into a fellow on his way back from Florida who loved to fish in his Hobie foot paddle kayak. The kayak is really unique in its design, lets a fisherman fish and paddle at the same time.
Hazards - It was very quiet as it was a Wednesday evening.
