Distance/Time - 11.6 miles/5 3/4 hours/2 MPH Avg Speed
Difficulty - Difficult
Lake Level - 250.6ft.
Trip Directions - Headed up stream towards the Little River. Water level was a little low, so many places I had to portage. The Little River was especially bad for downed trees. Must have been 5 areas I had to really work at to get by, either by portage or cutting my way through. On the way back decided to head to Penny's Bend, low water made me stop at the railroad trestle. I did find a trail head near the trestle that I could use to get to the Penny's Bend area and also the railroad trestle itself. Lots of poison ivy on the trail, I used my poison ivy soap when I got back as I am highly allergic.
Scenery - Very nice low humidly day with slight breeze. Herons/Egrets and a few turtles. Maybe an Eagle or Hawk on the last leg of the trip. This was my longest trip to date and quite fun figuring out all the ways to keep moving with downed trees and low water. Had the day off because of 30 years with the company I work for, so it was nice. Had a fisherman ask me what kind of boat I was in.
Hazards - Low water and downed trees.
