Put In(s) - Located on Purnell Road where the road crosses Falls Lake. You can put in on either side of the road. Parking is on either side also. The south side put in requires navigating down a rustic path, stay high on the hill. The put in is close to the bridge side. The second put in is on the north side of the road an there is an old rocky eroded road down to the water. Have to be careful of ankle twists.
Distance/Time - 5.1miles/3 hours/Avg. Speed 2MPH
Difficulty - Easy
Trip Directions - Since the lake was up around 3+ feet, I thought I would head into New Light Creek, which I had not been on since 2004. This is the trip that I capsized the kayak trying to slide into the lake like a sled. The trip north from the put in was very nice, was able to go very far up New Light Creek, and also hike on an ATV trail that runs all the way to Magnum Dairy Road. The creek begins at the Woodlief Road bridge and is blocked on the main creek by a huge downed tree, but if you take the right fork you can navigate further up the creek. At lower water all of this would not be possible.
Scenery - Saw an egret, some ducks, and one turtle. Spring has still not sprung so wildlife was not as abundant.
Hazards - None.
