Put In - Located at the Upper Barton Creek boat ramp on Six Forks Road. Put in on the right side of the boat ramps. Another run at night to basically do a shakedown run with the new car, rack, and rack lift in the garage. In the previous trip I lost my wallet and two weeks later after canceling everything I found it in the wheel well of the new car. I had no recollection of putting it in there at all. So, wanted to try again and just take it easy and use the new rack hoist, do the tie downs right, and don't be an absent minded professor. The rack hoist turned out really well, check out the picture below.
Distance/Time - 8 miles/3 hours
Difficulty - Difficult because of a night paddle.
Trip Directions - Did a big loop to Lower Barton Creek, lake levels are down so the creek dead ended a little early. Boat traffic was not bad as fall is coming and you could feel it. I stopped at a Bluejay Point access point into the park and hiked around.
Scenery - Saw a group of deer, an egret, and a set of owls hooting at me in the pitch dark. I tried to hoot back but mucked up as they just took off.
Hazards - A little boat traffic but not much.
