Put In - From intersection of I-85, exit 182 (SR1632-Red Mill Rd). Travel Red Mill Rd. west 4.5 miles to stop sign. Turn right on SR1794 travel 0.5 miles to stop sign and turn right onto SR1632, follow into area. There is one ramp for motor boats, the best place for put in for kayaks is to the right of the boat ramp. Very muddy at high water and various rocks around to scratch yourboat. You can park near the ramp on the right and unload and then park your car back in the parking lot.
Distance/Time - 10.8 miles/5 hours
Difficulty - Average
Lake Level - 252 ft.
Trip Directions - Went with a co-worker who had not been in the Eno river section of Falls Lake much. Did the favorite cut-thru and then up to Knap of Reeds Creek as far as possible.
Scenery - Beautiful spring day with no wind, so the paddle was nice and easy. Took a side hike into the Wildlife Management area and ran into a person with five dogs, they were having a blast running around. Saw two eagles, a snake at lunch, and various birds. But over all the wildlife was not as abundant as I would of thought on such a warm day. The boat ramp was totally packed with cars, the overflow was even filled. On the way home I passed the Upper Barton Creek ramp and it was totally full also, so it shows people have been trapped at home with the cold weather and wanted to get outdoors.
Hazards - Cold water and motor boats.
