Falls Lake - Upper Barton Creek III Trip
Put In - Located at the Upper Barton Creek boat ramp on Six Forks Road. Put in on the right side of the boat ramps.
Distance/Time - 4 miles/3 hours
Difficulty - Difficult because of a night paddle
Trip Directions - This was a full moon trip so was on the lake about 6:30PM to wait for moon rise at 7:20pm. The moon really did not show itself till around 8PM. Head left or east towards Blue Jay Point. Second time as a night paddle. A lot of kayakers out and about. Paddled to the Yorkshire Center and hiked around. Major work going on in this area. Clouds arrived soon after moon rise and nice lighting up north to light up the sky.
Scenery - Osprey nest near Blue Jay Point was not being used this time. Man made stand.
Hazards - Motor boats everywhere, be careful. Was at night so made sure I had my flashing red lamp on the back of the boat, and a head lamp that I could turn on when boats appeared. This trip boats were on the water all night. Was warm so I guess people wanted to stay out late.
