Put In - The boat ramp is located in Hyco Park and is located off Hwy. 57 north of Roxboro on Kelly Brewer Road.
Distance/Time - 10.7 miles/4 1/2hours
Difficulty - Above Average because of portage.
Trip Directions - I headed west to a canal that only showed on the US Inland Lakes V3. This let me get to the Cobbs Creek area and I paddled to the end of Cobbs Creek and then headed to the power plant. I ended up being blocked by the power plant access road or old rift-raft and had to portage across this, otherwise I would have had to back track. This let me head down near the power plant, eat lunch, and then head back to the boat ramp, stopping at the park. The park has camping, tent and RV, and cabins to rent. Not the best looking sites, the park looks like the 50's vintage, with not much make over since then. The power plant keeps the water very warm, so I saw some water skiing today.
Scenery - Had fine time on a nice warm, low wind day. Was able to view many homes on the lake, much better than Kerr Lake, but not as good as Gaston. The water level looks like it is pretty stable. I saw an eagle, egrets, deer, and various birds during the day.
Hazards - Portage, had to be careful dragging the boat.
