Jordan Lake - Parkers Creek Trip
Put In - Camped at Parkers Creek Campground at site 224 in Loop 4 North. Here are the directions. The entrance to Parkers Creek is on US 64. Traveling west on US 64, go over the bridge on Jordan Lake. The entrance is on the right. Traveling east on US 64, the entrance is the first left after seeing lake. The campground is broken into four sections(Loop 1, 2, 3, & 4). Loop 4 is the farthest north and ended up being very secluded since everyone left late Sunday afternoon. It also lets you go north and south on the lake for nice paddling trips. The cost of the campsite was $20 dollars.
Distance/Time - Trip 1: 5.9 mile, Trip 2: 5.2 miles, Trip 3: 9.8 miles.
Difficulty - Above Average, because of the wind.
Trip Directions - The afternoon trip around the north area and the Jordan Lake Educational State Forest. The wind was up as is normal in this part of the lake. So heading north was always a tough paddling. The second trip at night was down to the Crosswinds Marina boat ramp and back. Wind was still up some. The moon rose and allowed a nice paddling back to the campsite. The last trip the next morning was to White Oak Creek. The water was down 2 feet so was not able to get up the creek. Stop at the fishing pier just past the bridge on the way in. All the trips in this area have to deal with submerged tree stumps. The are found all along the shore and in various areas in the lake.
Scenery - Lots of birds. Turtles were out also as the day warmed up.
Hazards - Wind and tree stumps.
