Jordan Lake - Poe's Ridge Trip
Put In - The boat ramp is located off of SR 1970 which can be accessed from US 1 exit 79(Moncure - Pittsboro Rd.) to SR1970(Jordan Dam Rd). Signs point the way once on Jordan Dam Rd.
Distance/Time - 7.1 miles/3.5 hours
Difficulty - Average
Trip Directions - I headed to the left bank from the boat ramp and skirted the edge of the lake all the way up to the dam and then cut across. Real nice trip, can go around an island and visit various coves. There is a boat ramp that lets you access the dam area and resource management center. Also, found the an old access road to Clark Poe Road. Nice hike, be on the look out for hunters however.
Scenery - Lots of birds, osprey, heron, ducks, crows, etc. Birds were all out in force.
Hazards - Low water, no power boats this time of year.
