Jordan Lake - Poplar Point Trip
Put In - Camped at Poplar Point campgrounds at site 56E. The last water access site since 3/4 of the park was closed since it was late in the season. Had a nice set of steps down to a cove where I could launch. The entrance to Poplar Point is on North Pea Ridge Road/SR 1700. Traveling west on US 64, pass the lake and take a left at the first traffic light onto North Pea Ridge. This road leads into Poplar Point.
Distance/Time - 3.7 miles/3 hours, 7.2 miles/4 hours
Difficulty - Easy
Trip Directions - The first trip was at dusk and I headed north to the Highway 64 bridge and then returned to the campsite. Real nice paddle in the pitch dark, since the moon was not up. Came across a boat fishing with high intensity lights shining all around it, felt like I was in the "Jaws' movie set. The next day I headed west from the campsite to Parker's Creek and then hiked into Seagrove recreational area for Jordan Lake's Heritage Days. Real fun day seeing all the old stuff and the raptors were the best and the steam engine. Parker's creek has no access as Highway 64 blocks the way with no bridge.
Scenery - Not much other than a few egrets and heron.
Hazards - Low water at this time of the year.
