Put In - There are two marinas on the lake and I did the main marina. Five dollar fee to launch. Only an hour's drive from Raleigh. This lets you do the dam area part of the lake.
Distance/Time - 10 miles, 4+ hours.
Difficulty - Easy
Trip Directions - From the boat ramp I just made a counter clockwise loop along the shore line. Again the lake has a zillion rules so you cannot pull up on the bank, have to fish in certain locations, etc., etc. The city of Burlington loves to put up signs for the rules. Check in to pay the five dollars is also another set of rules verbally thrown at you. Maybe folks abuse the rules and they feel they need to make them clear.
Scenery - No power boats allowed in this area. You can have electric motors, so you get a few fisherman. Had a nice paddle up Beaver Creek and viewing the dam. Ate lunch on an island near the dam and took a nap also since the weather was so nice. Lots of ducks on the lake.
Hazards - None.
