Put In - The boat ramp is located near Mayo Park and is located off Hwy. 49 north of Roxboro on Neal's Store Road (SR 1515).
Distance/Time - 10.6 miles/4 hours
Difficulty - Easy.
Trip Directions - I headed south from the boat ramp towards Highway 49. A very nice paddle on a beautiful calm day.
Scenery - The lake is very pristine and so clear you can see the bottom in most shallow places. Here is a lake with basically no development runoff, so the water is very clear. Also, the bottom seems to be mostly shale type rock instead of mud. Hawks, ducks, turtles, and various other birds all around. Mayo Park is very nice and I hiked the various trails available. Camping looks really nice also, I am going to try Campsite 5 sometime. They do have cabins also, but they seem to be for large groups. I also ran into a domestic Muscovy, which is a bird from Mexico that is used as a pet.
Hazards - None.
