Put In -
Virginia Wildlife Access ramp where US 1 crosses the Roanoke River.
Small boat ramp, very busy and no facilities. No launch fees either.
-
Distance/Time - 4.9 miles/4 hours
-
Difficulty - Average, requires being aware of moving water and motor boats.
The wind was so high, going up Miles Creek helped buffer the wind during the
trip.
-
Trip Directions - Since it was so windy, I decided to take the Miles Creek
branch which is just 50 yards down stream of the put in. After the
trip I headed to the base of Kerr Dam by car to scout out that area as a put
in. Nice boat ramp at the tailrace park.
-
Scenery -
Very nice easy paddle up to a farm with cows. Stopped on the way back at
a fishing/canoe access point.

Hazards -
Ticks are out...
