Put In - I found the put ins for this area of the Tar River/Reservoir from the Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation site. I attempted to put in at the Highway 58 access but the water was at least 10 feet below full pool and it was all mud. So, I moved on up to the dam and was able to put in on the dam itself, all other areas were so low and very muddy. I did find the Bend of the River boat ramp on the paddle, next time I would use this.
Distance/Time - 7.7 miles, 3 hours.
Difficulty - Average+ as the wind was howling most of the day.
Trip Directions - I headed from the dam area up river and then hung a left under the Bend of the River bridge. On the way back I headed up the creek that seems to go a fair distance, but turned around after a bit. Next trip I can paddle this section.
Scenery - This area is very well developed with homes. It was a cold, windy and cloudy day, so I just took it easy and did sightseeing of all the homes. The water is so low not a dock can be used by the homeowners. I saw one boat all day. Did seem may ducks and egrets.
Hazards - Wind.
